The B series of INTERCAL pumps is specially designed for continuous operation in the harshest conditions. Its main application is for the pumping of water and other clean or slightly dirty liquids with solid particles in suspension up to a 1.2% concentration, admitting a small abrasiveness in accordance with the construction components of the pump. The main fields of application reside in the industry in general, water supply, heating and air conditioning systems, cooling tower circuits, thermal and compressed air plants, industrial paint facilities, etc.


Unicellular closed impeller pump with axial suction and radial discharge. The diffuser is volute type forming the pump casing.
Every model has as its own unique pieces the body of the pump, the impeller and the suction cover-flange. For the whole range there are 5 different supports.


The impeller rotates clockwise facing the pump from the free end of its shaft.

Pump Selection

A fairly accurate and fast selection can be done based on the basic data, flow rate and total manometric head through the families of characteristic curves. Given that the pumps’ characteristic curves are plotted according to the data obtained from laboratory tests with clear water at 20ºC, then:
- Power absorbed and with it the rated motor will vary with the specific weight and viscosity of the liquid.
- Being NPHS required an intrinsic datum to the pump according to the flow rate. The suction manometric head will vary with the vapor pressure (temperature), specific weight and atmospheric pressure.
The same conditions of service can be met with different pumps rotating at different speeds. Our characteristic curves and selection charts have been found for nominal speeds of 2.850 and 1.450 r.p.m. following the actuation by three phase electric motors of 3.000 to 1.500 r.p.m. respectively of synchronous speed for a network frequency of 50 C/s. The answer of a pump at a different speed can be found as set forth in this catalog which gives more information on these issues.


The electro pump group consists of the pump itself and the electric motor assembled on a plinth, the shafts being joined by an elastic coupling. The perfect alignment between the axles of the pump and the main engine in an electro pump group. If this is not met, despite the compensating action of the elastic coupling, the noise level will increase significantly due to the abnormal radial stresses that are subjected to the pump bearings and the motor, mostly those adjacent to the coupling, thereby reducing its life.
The alignment must be ensured not only in the factory but once the group is installed. Then the pump subjected to stresses transmitted through the pipes can be seen, which is necessary, so they can be absorbed without deformation of the group, within reasonable limits. Consider now the INTERCAL electro pump group components in which a perfect alignment of axles is achieved based on a large mechanical rigidity of the assembly.

Electric Motor

It's the kind of short-circuited rotor, for three-phase alternating current, horizontal construction with legs; make B-5 according to IEC Standards. Normal stresses of 220/380 V. Star Delta and 380 V. Delta. IP-54 Protection adopted as standard. IP-23 Protection optional.
The nominal speeds are 1.450 and 2.850 r.p.m. to be specified according to the conditions of service as required.

It is built in one piece of UPN profile steel star Delta.


The visco pumps, due to their particular impeller, blades and pump body design, allow the lifting of certain fluids that the centrifugal pumps are unable to vehicle. In fact, the INTERCAL PX Series enables, among others, the following applications:

1. - Liquids containing solid or pasty matters in suspension. Pulps, weeds, tannins containing bark residues, purines, shelled marc, well cleaning, water laden with sand, cement, crushed minerals, etc. Multiple applications in the Paper Industries, Breweries, Tanners… Also in the porcelain factories, marble carving, coal laundries, etc. This type of pumps is also used for pumping wastewater from sewage, as well as sludge and sand dredged from rivers, or for cleaning pools, ponds, etc.
2. - Viscous liquids such as paints, tars, oils, slurries, etc. The visco pumps easily carry all of these liquids, when its viscosity does not reach too important figures, provided they work in LOAD or with VERY LITTLE SUCTION.
